Sonic Light 2003, Amsterdam

What is visual music?

This remarkable festival and conference answered this question in many ways, bringing together diverse practitioners, including artists, composers, and other experts in the field.

There was a fascinating collection of films showing works of early experimental film makers and a conference presented the ideas of current practitioners.

A series of concerts every night presented new video works on a specially designed set of giant screens. These were vast structures that overwhelmed the space, lit by a multiplicity of video projectors. In an adjoining area, there were installations of light sculpture. Prominent amongst these installations were my light sculptures.

The installations were located at The Paradiso, a famous night spot in Amsterdam. This was also the venue for the concerts and video screenings.
